About Us

The Jackson Ranch
The ranch was established in 1911 when Grandpa Andrew Jackson traded a ranch in Canada for the ranch in Hog Heaven. Walt was born on the ranch in 1912. He went to school at Hog Heaven School, worked the ranch with his brother Orville and then died at the ranch at the age of 93. He loved it so much. Effie was the ultimate hostess. She always had hot cinnamon rolls and iced tea when anyone came. Her massive garden fed a lot of neighbors. Her garden was a memorial to Dick who died in a tragic auto accident.
When Walter and Effie left the earth they left the ranch to Nancy. She wanted to share the ranch with the family, but was at a loss of how to set it up. You might say she is still confused but wanted to start a dream she held in her heart and create a healing place. To her it is a place for people to come and have some down time. You will hear no road noise or see light pollution. We have a telescope to look out at the vast universe and see the stars clearly!
Don and Nancy have chosen to honor our Cowboy, Indian and Armed Services history in our family. Please come see what we have been up to and thanks to all that helped us --especially Howard and Erin Gaynor. We look forward to sitting on the deck and telling some wild ride stories while we wait for the sunset!
Our thanks to all the tribes that were represented in putting the ranch together. We had Kootenai, Salish, Blackfeet, Iroiquois, Cree, Metitis. Imagine all their prayers blessing this place. Thanks to the family. John Bras for the wonderful flower boxes, Blake Kenmille for the amazing deck, Louie & Keya Camel for setting up the tipi's. Pam Tanley and her mom for sewing and painting the tipis. Louie Camel for the beautiful fences. Whitney Warneke for coming home and all the hard labor she puts in! Bevra Jacobson for her hard work and prayers. We are too blessed.
Can't wait for you to come see.

People who come here
People from 61 countries visited our last ranch in the last year. We look forward to them visiting this ranch!
We have lots of history to share with you and will tell you where the best spots and the short cuts to get there!! Take time to visit Glacier National Park, the CSKT Tribe Bison Range and the many quaint towns that are minutes away. Oh, and the beautiful Flathead Lake! People that come here love the quaint town of Hot Springs. Many people mountain bike from Kalispell, stay at the motelin Hot Springs to soak in the hot water. It is the only place in the world that has Lithiem in the water. They then do the trek back by the ranch to Kalispelll. In time, we hope they stop here at the ranch.
